Welcome to the BlueWolf Survival and Preparedness website.

The website is divided into three main areas. You can get to these areas by clicking on the buttons near the top of the page.

The three areas are based on the evolution that most people follow when they become interested in preparedness. Roughly, this evolution is Dependence to Independence to Interdependence. Of course, not everyone follows this pattern, but most do in some form or manner. This evolutionary pattern also closely follows the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced attitudes towards survival and preparedness. These are further explained, in summary, below.

Dependence. When a person discovers how dependent they are on all the conveniences of modern society, they have a sudden and often frightening realization of exactly how vulnerable they actually they are to disruptions. Often, a person doesn't take a hard look at their dependencies until they are involved in a disaster or near disaster.

It's not surprising, then, that their first reaction is an attempt to reduce this dependency. They usually start by acquiring some food to store, a couple a gallons of water, and other emergency items. This, undoubtedly, is a good step to take, if everyone in America were to take this step, we would be much better off to handle any crisis or disaster, whether localized or nationwide. And, for the vast majority of people, this is the only step that they will take.

The Basic Preparedness section is designed to help people lesson their dependence during a disaster or emergency.

Independence. There are some though that wish to take their preparations further and try to break their dependency on the infrastructure as much as possible. This usually involves elaborate and expensive schemes to get themselves to a point where they and their families can live for extended periods of time without outside help. Food storage of a year or more, the ability to purify water indefinitely, home defense, alternative electricity and heat are only a few of the vulnerabilities that these people try to quell.

While most people never go past the Dependence stage, there are still a significant amount of people trying to accomplish their Independence from the infrastructure that we've come to depend on for everyday living.

The Intermediate Preparedness section contains information to increase one's independence. The jump from Basic to Intermediate preparedness requires a great deal more of knowledge than is required for just Basic preparedness. Consequently, this section contains the most information.

Interdependence. Finally, a person realizes that it is practically impossible to achieve total independence; particularly when trying to prepare for a long-term scenario. This realization usually occurs after lots of money and time are spent trying to achieve total self-sufficiency. The reality of the situation is that for long term survival to occur, people need to rely on other people. Man cannot survive alone and keep his living standard above that of an animal.

The Advanced Preparedness section addresses these issues. This section differs from the other two sections in that the articles are mostly discussion and theory based. Complex societal issues relating to preparedness are discussed.
